WOMAN DIES FROM CRASH INJURIES – A Boyd woman involved in a two-vehicle accident on Farm Road 730 in January died Tuesday at a Fort Worth hospital from injuries sustained in the accident. Winogene Mayfield, 81, died at John Peter Smith Hospital where she was flown by medical helicopter Jan. 18. Mayfield was driving a 2016 Chevrolet passenger car northbound around 2:40 p.m. A 2009 Lexus passenger car driven by Lacretia Lumas, 40, of Bridgeport went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, went into the northbound lane and collided with Mayfield’s vehicle. Department of Public Safety spokesman Ricky Hunter said the DPS is aware of Mayfield’s death due to injuries from the crash. “DPS is presenting the crash investigation to the Wise County District Attorney’s Office, who will decide if criminal charges will be pursued and forwarded to a grand jury,” Hunter said.

BASKETBALL SCHEDULE – Tonight’s boys basketball games include Decatur hosting Springtown, Bridgeport at home against Argyle, Boyd hosting Millsap, Paradise at Tolar, Alvord at Muenster, Chico at home against Era and Slidell hosting Gold-Burg.

LITTLE LEAGUE SIGNUPS – Signups for little league baseball T-ball-12u is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday and 1-3 p.m. Sunday at City Church, 3483 South FM 51 in Decatur. This will be the only in-person signups, and signups will end Feb. 18. Visit the Decatur Baseball League Facebook page for information and the link to sign up online.

GAMING AT THE LIBRARY – The Decatur Public Library will host role-playing games in the library at 10 a.m. Saturday and every second Saturday of the month. Tables will be set up for different games, including Savage Worlds, Pathfinder, Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, and The Pokemon trading card game.

DEMOCRATS TO MEET – The Wise County Democratic Party will meet 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Decatur Conference Center. BAKE SALE – The Texas Democratic Women of Rural North Texas will hold a bake sale 4-7 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to whenever they sell out on Saturday at Giant Burger in Rhome. All proceeds will go to the Tracy Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund.

DINNER AND AUCTION – The Boyd Area Buyers Association will present the ninth Jimmy Ware Memorial dinner and auction 6-9 p.m. next Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Boyd High School cafetorium. The annual fundraiser benefits FFA, 4-H and FCCLA members through purchasing Wise County Youth Fair projects and awarding scholarships. Tickets are $15 for guests 13 and up and $10 for children 12 and under.
