COUNTY POPULATION SWELLS – Wise County grew by 3.7 percent, adding 2,442 residents between July 1, 2017 and July 1, 2018, according to estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau Thursday. The county’s estimated population was 68,305 – 9,178 more than the 2010 Census figure of 59,127.

RETIRED EDUCATORS MEETING – Wise County Retired School Personnel will meet 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Decatur Conference Center for a luncheon. The program will be presented by Wise County Judge J.D. VETERANS BREAKFAST – The weekly Wise County Veterans Group Breakfast is 8 a.m. Saturday at the Decatur Conference Center. Doors open at 7:30. Cost is $8. Attendees will hear the latest news affecting veterans in Wise County.

GOOD FRIDAY CLOSINGS – All Wise County administrative offices will be closed today for the Good Friday holiday. City offices in Bridgeport and Chico will also be closed for the holiday.

EASTER PHOTOS – Joe and Lisa Duty will be taking Easter photos 3-6 p.m. today at Rhine Realty, 305 S. Trinity St., in Decatur.

BAKE SALE – The Wise Health System Auxiliary will hold a Pre-Easter Bake Sale 7 a.m.-1 p.m. today in the main lobby of the hospital. A hand-quilted quilt by Eva Ray Tindol will also be raffled. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

DAR MEETING – The John B. Denton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its next meeting 10 a.m. Saturday at the Wise County Historical Museum in Decatur. Medal of Honor recipient Chuck Ziegenfuss will make a presentation. Call Cecily Pegues at 817-528-8412.

BRISKET SALE – Greenwood Masonic Lodge will cook briskets for the Easter holiday. Cost is $60 per brisket, which can be picked up at Greenwood Pavilion between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday. To order a brisket call 817-982-4180 or 940-255-2782.

GLITZY GIRLS – The annual Glitzy Girls Trailer Park Event is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday on the Decatur Square. The event includes vintage travel trailers on display, vendors, food, live music and more.

ASM EGG HUNT – Ascension and St. Mark’s in Bridgeport will hold an Easter Egg Hunt for children following the 10 a.m. service Sunday.

EASTER IN BOYD – The Boyd Parks and Special Events Committee will present the city’s first Easter Egg Hunt 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at James Snodgrass Park. It will feature egg hunts for various age groups and will also include food trucks, snow cones and the Easter Bunny. The event was rescheduled from last week due to rain.

EASTER AT THE HILLS – The Hills in Decatur will have an Easter Egg Hunt 4:30 p.m. today. Cookies and ice cream cones will be served following the hunt.

VICTORY EGG HUNT – Victory Family Church in Decatur will hold an Easter Egg Hunt after its 5 p.m. service Saturday.

METHODIST EGG HUNT – The First United Methodist Church in Decatur will hold an Easter Egg Hunt for various age groups from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. Sunday. There will be a light breakfast and craft rotations.

NEW HOPE FELLOWSHIP EGG HUNT – New Hope Fellowship Church near Greenwood will hold an Easter Egg Hunt 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Park.

EASTER EGG DROP – Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise will have an Easter Egg Drop at 3:15 p.m. Saturday and another following the 6 p.m. service. A helicopter will drop 30,000 Easter eggs at the event, which will also feature food trucks and photo opportunities.
