State track notes: Decatur finishes sixth in sprint relay

Running against a loaded field in the 4A 4×100 final, the Decatur Eagles finished sixth in 42.35.

The quartet of Adam Martinez, Jackson Carroll, Shay Dubois and Will Quintana made four solid exchanges to get around the Mike Myers Stadium track.

Waco La Vega won the state title in 41.1. Stafford took second in 41.21 and Texarkana Liberty-Eylau third in 41.25.

Bulldogs miss exchange
The Alvord Bulldogs couldn’t get the baton around in the 2A 4×100 final Saturday.

The Bulldogs failed to make the second exchange and the quartet of Jared Johnson, Tanner Richey, Ranson Klein and Clayton Machal did not finish.

Shiner won the race in 41.88. Alto was second in 42.79 and Holland third in 42.91.

Tambunga finishes ninth
In her state debut, Alvord sophomore Jocelyn Tambunga finished ninth in the 100 hurdles in 17.07.

Vega’s Zoe Webb won the gold medal in 14.82. Rese Schoonover of Stratford was second in 15.27 and Gracie Green of Harper third in 15.42.
