Slidell’s Meyer named MVP: Zuniga earns Defensive Player of Year

Slidell senior Bailey Meyer was named District 22-A MVP, leading the Lady Hounds to an appearance in the Region III final.

Her counterpart, fellow senior Cate Zuniga, was named Defensive Player of the Year. The duo helped Slidell win their fourth straight district title before being eliminated by Dodd City in the region final.

Aurora Deluna, Jayden Ellison and Lexi Swift earned first team honors for the Lady Hounds. Maddie Meyer was tabbed to the second team. Slidell finished the season 32-3.

Offensive Player of the Year: Freedom Morris, Bellevue

Defensive Player of the Year: Cate Zuniga, Slidell

Co-Newcomer of the Year: Emily Carpenter, Prairie Valley; Tristan Burns, Midway

Coach of the Year: John McGee, Bellevue
