The Decatur Eagles and Slidell Greyhounds will try to etch their names into the history books this week at the UIL basketball championships in San Antonio.
It is Decatur’s first trip to the state tournament. The hysteria surrounding the Eagles’ trip to San Antonio caused Decatur ISD to sell out its first allotment of 400 tickets in less than an hour, according to district spokesperson Sally Rogers.
A second set of 400 tickets that will be available at will call will be sold until 3 p.m. Wednesday
The Eagles (37-3) will meet Liberty Hill at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the 4A semifinal at the Alamodome. Decatur beat Liberty Hill earlier this season.
For Slidell, it is the Greyhounds’ first trip to the semifinal since winning the Class B championship in 1943-1944. Slidell (31-8) will take on Oakwood at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Class A semifinal.
General admission tickets are available for the state tournament at the Alamodome Box Office. They can also be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000. They are $19 each and children two and under get in free.

An all-tournament ticket costs $130 and is good for any game during the duration of the tournament, which runs Thursday through Saturday.
The designated home team will sit on the north side of the court. The visiting team will be on the south side.
Games will be broadcast on FOX Sports Southwest and the NFHS Network.
If the two Wise County teams score victories in the semifinal, they will advance to the title games Saturday. The Class A championship game is slated for 8:30 a.m. The 4A title game will be at 7 p.m.
