Another honor has rolled in for Decatur’s Satasha Kostelecky.

The senior was named the Texas Association of Volleyball Coaches’ 4A Player of the Year Thursday afternoon. She was one of several Wise County athletes and coaches that earned TAVC honors.

Kostelecky buried 335 kills and made 164 blocks while being named District 8-4A MVP on the way to leading Decatur to a state title.

Decatur’s Alyssa Wallace was named Defensive Player of the Year. She made 944 digs and was a unanimous choice for 8-4A Libero of the Year.

Decatur coach Clark Oberle was named 4A Coach of the Year, guiding the Lady Eagles to a 38-11 record.

“Coaches awards are largely based on team success, which is what I preach to the kids,” Oberle said. “Talent and hard work by the kids are what led to the state championship and this honor. I’m just grateful to be a part of a great team, school and community.”

Decatur sophomores Makenna Gantt and Trinity Vinzant as well as freshman Bayli Miller were also selected to the Class 1A-4A all-state team.

In Boyd, senior Larrin Maxwell was named Class 3A Defensive Player of the Year after leading the Lady Jackets back to the state tournament. Maxwell made 621 digs and compiled a record of 140-25 in her four seasons at Boyd.

Boyd junior Delaney Pellegrini was selected as the 3A Hitter of the Year, putting down 498 kills.

Seniors Jordyn Todd and Macee Valtr were also selected to the Class 1A-4A all-state teams.
