Decatur lifters advance to state

Decatur powerlifters LeighAnn Sitzman and Nancy Martinez are moving on to compete at the state meet.

Sitzman won the 97-pound weight class at the Region 6 Division 2 meet, hoisting a total of 595 pounds.

The sophomore squatted 245, benched 130 and deadlifted 240. It is her second consecutive year to advance to state.

Martinez, meanwhile, finished second in the 114-pound division with a total weight of 725 pounds.

The senior squatted 295, benched 130 and deadlifted 310 pounds. It is the second straight trip to the state meet for Martinez, as well.

The duo will compete at the state championships Friday, March 15, at the Extraco Center in Waco.
