Decatur used a 43-0 run and forced more than 20 turnovers Friday night, routing rival Bridgeport 70-14.

The Eagles led 33-3 at halftime and held the Bulls scoreless for the entire second quarter.

“On the defensive end of the floor, I thought we were really good,” said Decatur coach Drew Coffman. “We were a little sloppy offensively, but I was proud of our defensive effort tonight.”

Izek Chavana and Gage Rieger led Decatur with 13 points each. Grayson Harris added 10 and Carson Tibbels nine.

The Eagles (29-3) improved to 5-0 in District 8-4A. Decatur has won nine straight games and will host rival Argyle Tuesday to decide the 8-4A title.

“We treat every game the same as far as our preparation,” Coffman said. “Obviously, this one carries a little bit more weight with what’s at stake. I think we’ll be ready. Our kids are excited about it.”

The Panthers (14-14) fell to 4-7 in District 7-3A with three games remaining. Trace Tyler led Paradise with 13 points.

Alvord trailed 32-18 at halftime but mounted a run in the third quarter. The Bulldogs trailed 44-38 entering the final frame.

Tresyon Chambers and Eli Tefertiller each tallied eight points. Alvord (18-9) dropped to 3-3 in District 11-2A.
