Bridgeport’s Rodriguez named 7-4A MVP; Decatur’s Carrillo earns Defensive MVP honors

Bridgeport senior Edward Rodriguez was named District 7-4A MVP, leading the Bulls to their fourth straight league title.

Rodriguez was one of Bridgeport’s scoring leaders during the Bulls’ charge to a 14-6-2 mark. Giovanni Martinez was the Midfield MVP. Jason Espinoza was named the league’s top goalkeeper after giving up just 1.3 goals per game.

Decatur’s Rodrigo Carrillo was named Defensive MVP. Emanuel Morales was the Utility Player of the Year.

The Eagles finished third in 7-4A before falling to Kennedale in the bi-district round.

Defensive MVP: Rodrigo Carrillo, senior, Decatur

Midfield MVP: Giovanni Martinez, senior, Bridgeport

Utility Player of the Year: Emanuel Morales, junior, Decatur

Newcomer of the Year: Jimmy Ubaldo, sophomore, Springtown

Goalkeeper of the Year: Jason Espinoza, senior, Bridgeport

Coaching Staff of the Year: JD Bales, Bridgeport

Bridgeport: Damian Martinez, Miguel Alvarez, Rigoberto Alvarez, Sebastian Iniguez, Jonathan Juarez

Decatur: Andres Hernandez, Christopher Gross, Gumaro Inguanzo

Second Team

Bridgeport: Deymun Prado, Jose Huerta, Yobany Roman, Ruvicel Trejo, Sevastian Rodriguez

Decatur: Eliuth Gamboa, Gage Yarborough, Ivan Fernandez
