Alvord takes second at 11-2A meet

Christina Thomas took home gold in the high jump and discus at the District 11-2A championships Wednesday night.

The senior cleared 4-11 in the high jump and tossed the discus 121-0.25. Thomas qualified for state in discus last year, finishing eighth with a throw of 91-2.

Jocelyn Tambunga won the 100 hurdles, posting a 16.58. Allison Woodall garnered gold in the long jump with a leap of 15-3.5.

In the 800, Tawni Hamilton took home the top prize, running a 2:34.95.

On the boys side, Alvord’s Reece Silletti cleared 20-1 to win the long jump. Hunter Richey captured the triple jump with a 40-0.75.

Alvord’s Jared Johnson won the 100 in 11.08. Tanner Richey clocked a 23.79 in the 200 to claim gold.

Chico’s Kohl Evans swept the hurdles, winning the 110 and 300. He turned in times of 17.38 and 45.29.

The top four finishers in each event advance to the area meet Tuesday in Valley View.
