Sidewalk plan needed

There is no real plan for a side walk system in the developed areas of the city of Decatur.

The current scheme is to revive the failed past system, which was not clear, not enforced for at least the last 50 years.

As the mayor has said, many decades ago the city put in place a system that appeared to be fair. As is plain to see there is no effective sidewalk system in the developed areas.

The city appears to have cobbled together a cherry-picked summation of regulations that may be legal but not clear and certainly not a fair system to all.

I do now have a concrete paperweight, it does not connect to anything. It did allow me to re-plat my property.

This in turn increases the potential tax value to the city many times.

We do need a comprehensive sidewalk plan for all of Decatur. By that I mean a priority of development, a means of finance and clear city maintain plan.
