This is the last edition of All Around Wise.

Although the free circulation paper is being discontinued, it will be replaced with a midweek paper.

Starting the first week of March, two paid editions of the Wise County Messenger will be published every week. Publication days will be Wednesday and Saturday, just like old times.

The end of All Around will not affect news coverage. Messenger reporters will continue to cover breaking news, write riveting features and hit the highlights of local city councils and school boards. Our pages will still feature your favorite sports teams and photos from community events, as well as coverage of the issues affecting day-to-day life in Wise County.

We will remain your No. 1 source for all local news.

That being said, change isn’t easy. All Around was created in 1982, and since then has been mailed to every Wise County address, for free every week. Its look has varied through the years, as has its content, with its most recent design and purpose that of the regular newspaper.

We all feel a bit nostalgic about All Around. After all, its production kicked off our week every Monday, but due to rising printing and postage costs, it’s no longer a practical endeavor.

The best way to keep you informed is to return to our status as a semi-weekly paper with up-to-the-minute breaking news posted at wcmessenger.com. Of course, we will continue to publish the ever-popular Update, in print and online, and build our engaging social media platforms. We also have a new website in the works that we look forward to unveiling in the months ahead.

If you’ve relied on All Around as your single source for local news, we invite you to take advantage of our $15 subscription special, so you don’t miss a thing. For this low rate, you will receive the midweek and weekend editions of the Wise County Messenger, plus our award-winning special sections delivered to your mailbox. You’ll also receive a digital subscription that can be accessed on any mobile device and full access to the Messenger website.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call us at 940-627-5987 or email me at ktribe@wcmessenger.com. Every decision has been made with careful thought and consideration in an effort to fine-tune the production of the Messenger to give readers, and advertisers, the best experience.

We value our place in this community and look forward to continuing to tell your stories.
