A man wanted in connection with a stabbing in far south Wise County Monday was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony assault.

Bob Elliot Cole

Poolville resident Bob Elliot Cole is charged with a first degree felony charge of aggravated assault of a date/family/household member with a weapon and a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault causes bodily injury family violence.

Wise County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Craig Johnson said medics responded to a location in the area of Texas 199 and Clover Drive shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday for a patient with multiple stab wounds. The suspect fled the area before deputies arrived.

The patient was transported to Wise Health System in Decatur with non-life threatening injuries. The victim was treated and released Monday afternoon, Johnson said.

Officers began a search of the area for Cole. A Department of Public Safety helicopter was dispatched to aid officers from multiple agencies in the search for the suspect.

The sheriff’s office said Tuesday that officers with the Reno Police Department in Parker County located Cole and arrested him earlier that morning. He was brought to the Wise County Jail where he remained Friday with total bond set at $43,000.

Most probable cause affidavits filed with the case remained sealed from public inspection by press deadline Friday, but the arrest affidavit on the misdemeanor assault charge states Cole was involved in a physical altercation Monday morning with his wife, who told officers she was pushed into a wall by Cole. The push caused the wife’s head to strike the wall, causing her pain, according to the affidavit.
