A man and woman are in Wise County Jail on theft charges in connection with five vehicles being stolen Friday from a used car lot on U.S. 380 between Decatur and Bridgeport.

Delories Barnett, 31, of Chico, has been charged with five counts of theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000; two counts of burglary of a building; tampering and fabricating with evidence; and possession of a controlled substance between one and four grams.

Justin Wehrenberg, 30, of Weatherford, is in jail on five counts of theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000 and burglary of a building.

Bail has not been set for all of the charges.

An employee of BAM Used Cars contacted the Wise County Sheriff’s Office Friday around 10:20 a.m., after arriving to find the office had been ransacked and four vehicles were missing.

Sheriff Lane Akin said a fifth vehicle, a Cadillac, was found running on the lot.

“Four vehicles were missing, and the office was burglarized. Titles and checks had been take, along with the owner’s cell phone,” Akin said.

The owner of the lot, Gonzalo Del Negro, tracked his phone to the Arby’s parking lot in Decatur. A missing BMW was found and recovered by a WCSO deputy at the restaurant.

Later Friday, Akin said Lt. Chad Lanier spotted vehicles parked in front of a gate on County Road 1111 off U.S. 380 near Big Sandy Creek. Lanier found Barnett and Wehrenberg with multiple vehicles missing from the lot, and both were placed under arrest. Akin said methamphetamine was also found in their possession.

Three of the vehicles are still being detained for processing. Akin said the investigation continues.

“Everything was still intact,” Akin said. “We are blessed to have a solid group of investigators. They go the extra mile. “They are just a group of solid street policemen.”
