Decatur ISD hired Jadie Matthew as the district’s assistant superintendent for operations Monday.

Matthew is expected to start the new post in mid-March. He is currently the principal at Dilley High School.

“He has 15 years as a teacher and administrator,” said Decatur ISD Superintendent Judi Whitis. “He brings a variety of knowledge and expertise. Out of 40 applicants, he rose to the top.”

Trustees voted 5-1 to hire Matthew. Trustee Wade Watson cast the one dissenting vote.

“Whitis has done a good job of hiring people and we continue to trust her ability to hire people for our district,” said School Board President Cheri Boyd.

Matthew will oversee school safety, attendance, maintenance and transportation.

The district also hired Tabitha Shade as an instructional coach.
