Two women were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries after a two-vehicle accident on Farm Road 730 near County Road 4384 Friday afternoon.

Winogene Mayfield, 81, of Boyd was flown by medical helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth from the scene. L’acretia Lumas, 40, of Bridgeport was transported by ground ambulance to JPS.

Lumas was traveling south on FM 730 in a 2009 Lexus passenger at 2:40 p.m., when her vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and went into the northbound lane, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Ricky Hunter. The vehicle collided with the 2016 Chevrolet passenger car driven by Mayfield.

FM 730 was shut down in both directions following the accident. Boyd firefighters responded to the accident along with Wise County medics.
