A California woman was arrested this week for possession of the largest amount of THC Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said he’s ever seen.

Akin said a deputy stopped a vehicle southbound on U.S. 81/287 near the intersection of Farm Road 1810 in Decatur around 3:30 p.m. Thursday. A K9 officer alerted on all four doors of the vehicle and the subsequent search revealed 122 pounds of tetrahydrocannabinol-related items. The drug, commonly referred to as THC, is the main ingredient that produces the psychoactive effect in cannabis.

The THC was found in large suitcases inside the rental car driven by Domanique Natalie Laguana, 23, of Carson, Calif. It included 2.4 pounds of THC, 2 1/2 pounds of THC liquid, 2.7 pounds of THC shatter (a marijuana concentrate), 111 pounds of THC candy and 3 1/2 pounds of high grade marijuana.

The THC candy was one of the most alarming items, Akin said.

“What concerns me a lot is a lot of it is fashioned into candy that doesn’t look any different from what you’d see at the candy store,” he said. “It’s prone to being abused by our children.”

He said Laguana had picked up the drugs in Las Vegas and was transporting them to Dallas.

She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 2 in an amount over 400 grams and possession of marijuana in an amount of 4 ounces to 5 pounds. She remained in the Wise County Jail Friday.
