Favorite subject: math

Hobbies: Jaycee plays basketball for the Chico Dragons. She also enjoys playing outside and school.

“Jaycee is one of Chico Elementary School’s sweetest upperclassmen. She if very soft spoken, considerate and always respectful of staff and her peers. She is a great student who works diligently to keep her grades up. Jaycee never draws attention to herself, however, her respectful behavior and general kind attitude makes it impossible to ever overlook her.” – Principal Karen Decker

Hobbies: “I enjoy showing, playing, piano and volleyball.”

Hobbies: “I like to sing, play music and upload covers of songs on social media.”

“Will Jones is an awesome student. He is heavily involved in FFA and band. Will is a tremendous singer and often sings the national anthem at sporting events. He is supported by an outstanding family and is a tremendous asset to Chico High School.” – Principal Randy Brawner

Michelle Tidwell

Position: 5

Family: Husband, Chris Tidwell and daughter, Isabelle, who attends 5th grade at Chico Elementary.

Experience: “I have taught for 10 glorious years at Chico Elementary.”

Hobbies: “I love teaching of course. I also enjoy coaching youth volleyball and cheer. In the evenings, when I finally get to relax I love to read a good book.”

Why did you choose education as a profession?: “I always felt called to teach. My mother was a teacher for 35 years, so it’s just ‘in my blood!’ I really enjoy the challenges of each day. Watching students start to understand a new concept they’ve struggled with is the very best part of my job.”

Donny Vernon

CHICO MIDDLE SCHOOL

Donny Vernon

Position: U.S. History teacher, cross country and golf coach

Family: Wife, Linda; sons, Ryan and Grant

Experience: 32 years

Hobbies: Movies, reading historic books, golf, traveling, spending time with family and going to church.

Why did you choose education as a profession?: “I wanted to spread my love for history to others. I want to make sure it is not lost to future generations. We live in the greatest country in history and I want to make sure young people today know why that happened and how we can learn from our history.”

Experience: 15 years

Hobbies: Spending time with family, going to livestock shows and ballgames.

Why did you choose education as a profession: “I chose education as a profession because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of kids. I enjoy the extracurricular activities with my students and family.”
