Winogene Mayfield

Winogene “Winnie” Mayfield, 81, of Boyd, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, in Fort Worth.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Boyd Church of Christ with Mark Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Aurora Cemetery.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.

Pallbearers are Jack Stone, Kevin Stone, Joseph Gilbert, Robert Stone, Sebastian Davis, Sean Davis, Alex Stone and Daniel Stone.

Winnie was born Dec. 3, 1937, in Decatur to Brawley and Bonnie (Harris) Oates. She married George D. Mayfield June 4, 1968, in Fort Worth. They were married 40 years. Winnie was a graduate of Northwest High School. She was also a longtime member of Boyd Church of Christ. She was a retired postal worker.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Stone; second husband George D. Mayfield; sisters Sadie Oates and Beverly Oates; and son Kevin Stone Sr.

She is survived by her daughters, Lanai Hanna of Boyd, Dorrie Mayfield and husband, Allen Ransear, of Azle and Darla Davis and husband, Gary, of New Fairview; sons Jackie Stone and Debra Vechnak of Aurora, Doug Mayfield of Welch, Okla. and Tim Mayfield of San Francisco; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother Bill Oates and wife, Jean, of Aurora.

Memorial donations may be made to Christ’s Haven for Children in Keller.
