Weldon Dawson

Weldon Dawson, 69, of Decatur, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, in Fort Worth.

Funeral was Jan. 3 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with Rev. C.D. Lockhart officiating. Burial followed in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Rick Bowling, Johnathan Bible, Lynn Hachtel, Eddie Thompson, Ray Russell and Jr. Sierra.

Honorary pallbearers were Frank Madrea, Herbert “Sonny” Davis, Ronald McDade, Donald McDade, Keith Dawson and Harold Henderson.

Weldon was born Jan. 2, 1949, in Abilene to R.C and Louise (Lowry) Dawson. He attended Eastside Elementary in Decatur, Fred Moore High in Denton and graduated from Decatur High School. Weldon married Cynthia Daniel in October 2015, in Denton. He retired from residential construction as a carpenter and was a member of St. John Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; son Quenton Dawson of Arlington; daughters Juitana Kelley and husband, Edward, of Arlington and Jennifer Dawson of Decatur; brothers Ronald McDade of Carrollton and Donald McDade of Denton; sisters Sharon Dawson of Decatur and Tammy Harris of Pilot Point; and four grandchildren.
