Wayne Harveson

Wayne Harveson, 83, of Bridgeport, a retired banker, went to be with our Lord, Saturday, March 30, 2019, in Bridgeport.

Memorial service is 11 a.m. Monday, April 22 at the Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport. Revs. Laurie Harveson Barker and Lucia McKee Kremzar are officiating.

Wayne was born Jan. 19, 1936, to Charles and Thelma Ellen (Cullen) Harveson in Houston. He was united in marriage to Maralyn (Martin) Harveson June 27, 1959, in Abilene. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army.

In 2010, Wayne was honored for his 50 years in banking. He was ordained as both an elder and a deacon in the Presbyterian Church, USA. He served regular 3-year terms on the session or as the Clerk of Session for most of the 46 years he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport. Before that, he served as an active elder or deacon in churches in Dallas and Monahans. He was also heavily involved in Wise County United Way and Special Olympics, and was named Citizen of the Year by the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce in the 1980s. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lloyd and C.V. Harveson Jr.; and sisters Joyce Spann and Mignon Meschkat.

Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife of 60 years, Maralyn (Martin) Harveson of Bridgeport; sons Dr. Robert “Bob” Harveson and wife, Tammy, of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Tony Harveson of Bridgeport; daughter Rev. Laurie Barker and husband, Rev. James, of Junction; grandchildren Abby, Anna, Keaton, Emily, Zane and Mignon; and other relatives and a host of friends.
