Tom Harris

Tom Harris, 90, of Decatur, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, in Decatur.

Funeral was Jan. 4 at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur with Rev. Brian Bosworth officiating. Burial will be at noon Saturday at the Aggie Field of Honor Memorial Cemetery in College Station.

Pallbearers are Lawson Harris, Layton Harris, Justin Thomason, Rex Wallace, Kyle Jenkins and Ronnie Hall.

Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

Tom was born April 4, 1928, in Flora, Miss., to William and Maude (Alexander) Harris. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1946 at the end of World War II. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree in animal science. Tom was in the cattle business. He worked for the Bridwell Ranch in Windthorst, owned a feedlot in Hereford called Pre-Feeders Incorporated and moved to Kingsville in 1976 where he ran two divisions of the King Ranch Feed Lot for over 15 years.

Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Harris; and sister Martha Walker.

He is survived by his sons, Ty Harris and wife, Kim, of Decatur and Krece Harris of Decatur; four grandchildren, along with their mother, Stefanie Harris; brothers William Harris of Jackson, Miss., Dr. John Harris of Bryan and George Harris of Dallas.
