Reyburn Lee Ruhl

Reyburn Lee Ruhl, 65, of Rhome, peacefully departed from the presence of his loving wife and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, in Decatur.

Memorial service to be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the First Baptist Church in Decatur with Pastor Mike McInerney and Dr. David Lowrie officiating.

Reyburn was born Jan. 29, 1954, in Sapulpa, Okla., to James Richard “Dick” and Evelyn Reyburn Ruhl. He met the love of his life, Sherry Lynn Edwards, during homecoming weekend at his alma mater, Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. The two were joined in holy matrimony on April 30, 1983, in Richardson. He served with the Salvation Army for more than 14 years before going into ministry with International Commission for 16 years.

He had the spiritual gift of evangelism and never met a stranger. His life was dedicated to serving the LORD and he enriched the lives of countless people. Whether he was driving hundreds of children to Camp Hoblitzelle, traveling to more than 15 different countries on more than 20 separate missions trips to share the Gospel with lost souls, stopping on the side of the road to witness to a construction worker, or sharing the Word through Facebook after retiring in 2014, his deepest desire was that everyone would know Jesus Christ as their personal savior.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Susan Reffner; and brother Donald Ruhl.

Left to cherish his memory are wife Sherry; daughter April Cottrell and husband, Derek, of San Antonio; daughter Jamee of Rhome; brother Rick and wife, Barbara, of Richardson; mom-in-love Mary Edwards of Rhome; as well as other siblings-in-love and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Reyburn to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration:
