James Richard Clark Jr.

James (Jim) Richard Clark Jr., 77, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, after a long illness.

Funeral was Dec. 31 at Boyd Church of Christ. Burial followed at Cottondale Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 17, 1941, in Healdton, Okla., to Clarice and Richard Clark. He married Evelyn Kay Bridges Aug. 31, 1963.

Jim received his medical degree from UT Southwestern in Dallas, served as Major in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps. He was named Health Care Professional of the Year by the Texas Nurses Association in 1979 after founding the first certified nurse midwife clinic in Texas.

Jim retired from practicing medicine in 1999.

He served as an elder in congregations of the Church of Christ in Brownsville, Madisonville, Kentucky and Decatur.

Jim is preceded in death by his father; and brother Lee Allen Clark.

He is survived by his mother; wife of 55 years; children Randall Clark of Boyd, Shelley Gatlin and husband, Mitch, of Austin, Ray Clark and wife, Joy, of Celina, Julie Eaves and husband, Leland, of Boyd; and nine grandchildren.
