Evelyn Maltsberger

Evelyn Maltsberger, 88, of Decatur, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019, in Decatur.

Graveside service was April 23 at the pavilion in Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur, officiated by Dr. Van Gardner.

Evelyn was born April 4, 1931, in Mount Pleasant to Alba and Mary Ola (White) Mitchell. She was married to Dixie Lee Maltsberger of Decatur.

Jones Family Funeral Home handled arrangements.

She worked for El Fenix restaurants in Dallas before moving to Decatur in retirement in the early 1990s.

She was an avid reader and also enjoyed tending to her many flowers. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother and two sisters.

Evelyn leaves behind daughter Carol Koerner and husband, Mark, of Decatur; stepson Dean Maltsberger and wife, Trace, of Odessa; stepdaughters Lauri Akins and husband, David, of Elkhart and Alana Schooling of Decatur; sisters Faye Jackson of La Grange and Ruth Moore of San Angelo; grandchildren Damon Talavera of Carrollton, Brooke Akins of Decatur, Bonnie DeSpain of Waskom, Heather Graham of Odessa, Holly Shrauner of Andrews, Allen Maltsberger of Columbia, Mo., and Rosa Maltsberger of Chandler, Ariz.; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
