MOVE OVER OR SLOW DOWN – The Texas Department of Public Safety will be enhancing enforcement efforts in Wise County today. DPS will focus specifically on violations of the state’s move over/slow down law. The law, originally passed in 2003, requires motorists to move over or slow down when certain vehicles – including police, fire, EMS, Texas Department of Transportation vehicles and tow trucks – are stopped on the side of the road with emergency lights activated. The law states the driver must vacate the lane closest to the applicable vehicles stopped on the side of the road (if the road has multiple lanes traveling in the same direction), or slow down 20 mph below the speed limit.

RAINFALL REPORT – Yesterday’s rain totals include 1.65 inches in Bridgeport, 0.85 in Decatur and 0.45 in Alvord. We have a 50 percent chance of more rain today, decreasing to 40 percent tonight.

PRE-EASTER BAKE SALE – The Wise Health System Auxiliary will hold a Pre-Easter Bake Sale 8 a.m.-noon Friday inside the main lobby at 609 Medical Center Drive in Decatur. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos from 10 a.m.-noon. Authentic handmade turquoise jewelry will also be available for sale.

COOKING WELL WITH DIABETES – Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is hosting Cooking Well with Diabetes, an educational program to help people with diabetes and anyone who prepares food for them learn how to plan and prepare healthy meals. The four-week series will begin on Tuesday, April 3, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Wise County Extension office in Decatur. To pre-register call the Extension office at 940-627-3341. There is a one-time fee of $25 per person.

THE HILLS EGG HUNT – The Hills Nursing and Rehab in Decatur will host an Easter egg hunt at 4 p.m. Friday. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures (bring your own camera), and refreshments will be served following the hunt.

BRISKET FUNDRAISER – Greenwood Masonic Lodge will be cooking briskets to sale for the Easter holiday. Cost is $60 per brisket and will be ready for pickup at the Greenwood pavilion 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. To order briskets call 940-255-2782 or 817-992-4180.

EASTER EGG HUNT AT THE LIBRARY – The annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Decatur Public Library is this week. Children are invited on either Wednesday or Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for a special Storytime followed by an egg hunt. Call the library at 940-393-0290.
