114 WRECK – Both lanes of Texas 114 just north of Paradise were closed this morning after an 18-wheeler trailer overturned and spilled its gravel load across the highway. Department of Public Safety Trooper Jeff Johnson said the 18-wheeler, driven by Alejandro Sanchez of Arlington, was eastbound on 114 when a Cadillac crossed in front of it at the intersection of 114 and Country Road 3341. Sanchez tried to avoid the Cadillac, driven by Karen Cook of Bridgeport, but the vehicles collided. Cook’s Cadillac came to rest off the roadway, and the 18-wheeler’s trailer overturned, blocking the highway. The wreck occurred around 6:30 a.m. Cook was taken to the hospital by Wise County EMS. Sanchez was uninjured. The Texas Department of Transportation was called to the scene to clean up the gravel, which spilled across the road. Johnson estimated 114 would be open by 9 a.m. at the earliest, but clean-up could take longer. Troopers are on scene to direct traffic down an alternate route.
