DELAYED START – While Wise County didn’t see much rain yesterday and overnight, it was just enough to cause some slick spots, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Alvord and Chico schools will start two hours late today. All other schools opened at regular times. A few accidents were reported overnight, including a tanker truck rollover around 3 a.m. on U.S. 81/287 near Farm Road 407 north of Rhome that shut down the northbound lanes until the wreck could be cleared. Traffic was diverted onto the service road. The temperature at 7:30 a.m. was 25 degrees in Decatur. It should warm into the mid-40s by this afternoon.

YOUTH SOCCER – Bridgeport youth soccer sign-ups are 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Bridgeport Public Library. Fee is $65.

MEALS ON WHEELS FUNDRAISER – Meals on Wheels of Wise County is seeking the highest offer for two tickets for the Feb. 13 home game of the Dallas Mavericks. The money raised will benefit Wise County Committee on Aging. The tickets (worth $149 each) are in Section 105, Row M, Seats 7 and 8. VETERANS BREAKFAST – The Rhome Women’s Club will hold a breakfast for the Rhome Veterans and Auxiliary at 10 a.m. Saturday.

DONKEY BALL – Paradise Band Boosters will host Donkey Ball 7 p.m. Feb. 16 at Paradise High School. Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door. There will be a pre-game barbecue sandwich meal at 5 p.m. Meal tickets cost $7. Email paradiseband940@gmail.com.

HEART HEALTH CLINIC – The Heart Health Clinic in Bridgeport will host free heart health seminars at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Wednesday and Thursday in February at the Bridgeport Medical Office Building, 1903 Doctors Hospital Dr.

FUNERAL for William A. McCullough Jr., 86, of Rhome is 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, in the chapel at Jones-Decatur with burial at 2:15 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home.

SERVICE for Glenn Maddux, 74, of Paradise is pending at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

MEMORIAL service for Orval Leon “Popcorn” Chapman, 60, of Canyon Lake is 1 p.m. Saturday at Candlewood Suites in Decatur. He was the father of William Andrew Chapman of Boyd. Brown Owens Brumley Funeral Home in Fort Worth is handling arrangements.
