NEWARK CITY ADMINISTRATOR RESIGNS – Newark city administrator Diane Rasor tendered her resignation Tuesday. Rasor sent a letter to Mayor Mark Wondolowski and the city council, resigning her post immediately. Rasor said she was leaving due to a medical situation. She added that negotiations on her resignation had hit a standstill with the city. Rasor worked the last eight years in Newark. “It was great. We accomplished a multitude of great things,” Rasor said. “The city improved dramatically in the last eight years, especially with Mayor [Gary] Van Wagner’s leadership.” Before coming to Newark, Rasor worked in Haslet. She said she will likely retire after 23 years working in municipal government. The Newark council is holding a special meeting Thursday. The city administrator job is listed on the agenda.

WORK ON PACT CONTINUES – The Boyd city council took no action Tuesday on the pre-development agreement with Bob Shelton for the proposed Spring Hill South addition on Cemetery Road. The city is waiting for its bond counsel and attorney to work through revisions on the pact, which included terms for the planned improvement district and tax increment reinvestment zone. Mayor Rodney Holmes said the city would consider the agreement later this month.

JUST A TEST – The first test of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s “Presidential Alert” system will be sent to cell phones across the country at 1:18 p.m. today. The system is a way to notify citizens of national emergencies. For more information visit www.fema.gov/emergency-alert-test.

VOLLEYBALL RESULTS – Last night’s volleyball scores include the following: Northwest beat Lake Dallas 3-0, Decatur beat Springtown 3-0, Krum beat Bridgeport 3-0, Boyd beat Tolar 3-0, Peaster beat Paradise 3-0, Alvord beat Forestburg 3-0 and Chico beat Graford 3-0.

GOLF TOURNEY – The Decatur Junior Woman’s Club 27th Annual Park Classic Golf Tournament is Friday at Decatur Golf Club. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. tee time. The cost is $400 per four-man team and includes lunch, beer and water. To register, text Jordan White, 940-389-8252.

VETERANS PICNIC – The Annual Veterans Picnic sponsored by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter in Decatur is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Women’s Building at the Wise County Fairgrounds. Free barbecue will be served to all veterans and family members of veterans.

LEARN TO CROCHET – Chico Public Library’s “Stitch It!” program is noon-1:30 p.m. today. This program is open to home schoolers and adults who want to learn the basics of crochet. BENEFIT CONCERT – The Kody Norris Band will play a bluegrass music concert at the Crafton Baptist Church Recreation Hall 2 p.m. Sunday. The Crafton Cemetery Association is sponsoring the band for their fundraiser. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Admission and lunch is $10 per person.
