RECORD ENROLLMENT – Weatherford College has set a new enrollment record, helped in part by near-record enrollment at the Wise County campus. Weatherford College’s fall enrollment is 6,406, up just more than 1 percent from last year. Weatherford College Wise County’s official enrollment as of the 12th class day Sept. 7 was 579, up 0.35 percent from a year ago and up 5.46 percent from 2016. WCWC’s highest enrollment was 584 in 2014.

VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE – Today’s volleyball games include Wichita Falls Rider at Northwest, Celina at Decatur, Bowie at Bridgeport, Peaster at Boyd, Paradise at Breckenridge, Saint Jo at Alvord and Bluffdale at Chico.

BLOOD DRIVE – The Decatur Rotary Club will hold a Carter BloodCare blood drive at CVS in Decatur 1:30-6 p.m. today. Call John Lanier at 940-627-9714.

PATIENT REUNION – The Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at Wise Health System in Decatur will hold a reunion 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Wise Health System West Campus, 2000 S FM 51, in Decatur. Cake will be served. Read more in this week’s All Around Wise.

ART PROJECT AT THE LIBRARY – Kids of all ages are invited to join the after school fun at the Chico Public Library at 4 p.m. today. Participants will use mixed media to create watercolor resists. Call Michelle at 940-644-2330.

JOINT CHAMBER LUNCHEON – The Bridgeport and Decatur Chambers of Commerce are holding a joint luncheon 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Decatur Conference Center, and speaker is Suzie Humphreys, a motivational and inspirational humorist. HORSE CLUB – The Wise County 4-H Horse Club meets 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wise County Extension Office in Decatur.

GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY – The Wise County Genealogical Society will meet 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Decatur Public Library. Judy Ramos will present “How Writing About My Ancestors Made Me a Better Genealogist.” The meeting is free for members and $5 for guests.

SOCIETY MEETING – The Wise County Fossil, Mineral and Rock Society will meet at 7 tonight at a new location, Pleasant View Baptist Church, 886 CR 1326. Refreshments will be served. The program topic will be Machu Picchu, and a “rock show and tell” will take place after the program. The club meets the third Tuesday of each month and meetings are open to people in Wise County who are interested in rocks and lapidary arts.

OPEN HOUSE – An open house and ribbon cutting for Jenny’s Hope in the new offices of Wise County Christian Counseling is 4:30-6:30 p.m. today at 1650 S. FM 51, Suite 400.

FUNERAL for Anne Lester, 84, of Slidell/Greenwood is 10:30 a.m. today at Greenwood Baptist Church with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Hawkins-Decatur is handling arrangements.

SERVICE for Alan Lee Shaffer, 81, formerly of Bridgeport is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

VISITATION for Melvin “Dodie” Sergent, 66, of Rhome is 10 a.m.-noon Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd.

MEMORIAL service for Janice Shepard, 85, of Decatur is 11 a.m. Saturday at Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur.

GRAVESIDE service for Eula Maude Evans, 92, of Farmersville, formerly of Wise County, is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Hooks.
