RAIN CHANCES – A chance of much-needed rain returns to the forecast beginning tonight. The National Weather Service forecast includes a 30 percent chance of rain overnight. Rain chances increase to 40 percent during the day Wednesday and 60 percent Wednesday night. Lower rain chances remain in the forecast through the beginning of next week. Today’s high is expected to be 97 degrees.

GAS PIPELINE WORK – Atmos Energy will be working on a pipeline around the City of Boyd on Thursday. The work will require crews to release gas into the atmosphere around 7 a.m. in two locations. The first area is north of Boyd at 735 County Road 4360 and the second locations is near Keeter at 2465 County Road 4680. Wise County dispatch has been notified as well at the local fire departments and city police departments in the area.

MEET THE TEACHER – Decatur Intermediate School will hold Meet the Teacher night 5:30-7 p.m. today.

COLLECTING SCHOOL SUPPLIES – Decatur Medical Lodge, 701 W. Bennett Road, will be collecting school supplies – paper, pens, spirals, lunch totes and backpacks – for middle and high school students through Aug. 13.

PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP – The Wise County Parkinson’s Support Group meets 6 p.m. today at 609 Medical Center Drive, the old Fit-N-Wise. This month will feature a guest speaker.

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION IN SPANISH – Weatherford College Wise County will host a new student orientation in Spanish at 9:30 a.m. today in the WCWC Lecture Hall. It’s designed to educate students and parents from Spanish-speaking households about becoming a Weatherford College student, including how to register for classes, what classes to take and general information about degree requirements. CONVERSATION ABOUT METHAMPHETAMINE – Sheriff Lane Akin and Wise Health System are holding a community forum 6 p.m. today at the Women’s Building on the Wise County Fairgrounds in Decatur aimed at finding ways to address the methamphetamine issue in Wise County. Akin and his chief deputy, Craig Johnson, will give a presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session. It’s expected to end by 7:30.

FUNERALS – Memorial service for Lois Blisseck of Springtown is 10:30 a.m. today at St. Johns Catholic Church in Bridgeport. Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

MEMORIAL service for Ronald M. Solley, 65, of Bridgeport is 3 p.m. Wednesday at Jones-Bridgeport. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

SERVICE for Reinhard Warmuth, 58, of Alvord is pending at Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur.

SERVICE for Freddie Aucoin, 90, of Decatur is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

GRAVESIDE service for Curtis Graham, 82, of Alvord is 10:30 a.m. today at Sunset Cemetery. Hawkins-Decatur is handling arrangements.

SERVICES for Jerry White, 75, of Decatur; Paul Staples, 77, of Haslet; and Lisa Green, 57, of Elgin will be held at later dates. Hawkins-Decatur is handling arrangements.

SERVICE for Dnice Livengood, 63, of New York is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

MEMORIAL for Earnest “Ernie” Parker, 54, of Rhome is 6:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Boyd. Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Kristofer Price, 40, of Boyd is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Chapel in Boyd with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 1. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
