WEATHER FORCES FOOTBALL SCHEDULE CHANGE – All Wise County schools (Northwest, Decatur, Bridgeport, Boyd, Paradise, Chico and Alvord) have moved their football games to tonight due to the threat of inclement weather Friday. Decatur, Boyd and Paradise homecoming festivities will continue as normal today. Tonight’s schedule includes Sherman at Northwest at 7, Graham at Decatur at 7, Bridgeport at Lake Worth at 7, Callisburg at Paradise at 7:30, Pantego Christian at Alvord at 7 and Chico at Blue Ridge at 7.

NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY – North Texas Giving Day – an annual 18-hour online giving extravaganza for non-profits – is today, and United Way Wise County is participating. To celebrate, they’re hosting a special event at Trinity Street Coffee Bar in Decatur where you can meet people affiliated with local agencies served by United Way and have a cup of coffee. Giving Day is run by Communities Foundation of Texas. If participating non-profits reach certain donation goals, they’re eligible for bonuses. To make a donation, go to northtexasgivingday.org.

FISH FRY – The Decatur High School football game may be moving to tonight, but the DHS Band Boosters Fish Fry is still 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday at the DHS cafeteria.

TRIVIA NIGHT – Decatur Public Library is having a trivia night 7-8 p.m. today at Trinity Street Coffee Bar on the Decatur Square. Gift certificates and prizes will be awarded.

MOSQUITO FOGGING – The City of Decatur will conduct city-wide mosquito fogging tonight, weather permitting. The fogging will begin at 8 p.m. The pesticide being used is Masterline Kontrol 4-4. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors during the fogging process. Call the city at 940-393-0260 for information.

WCWC VETERANS CENTER – Weatherford College Wise County will celebrate the opening of its Veterans Center at 2 p.m. Friday in Classroom 201 on the campus. The center will provide a relaxing place for veteran students to meet, study, access computers, enjoy peer to peer support, meet with veterans service representatives or just have a cup of coffee.

CLEANUP DAY – Chico will hold a city-wide cleanup day 8 a.m.-3 p.m. (or until the dumpsters are full) at 401 E. Mount St. by the water tower Saturday. No tires, paint or shingles will be accepted. Bring a water bill as proof of residency.

HORSE CLUB – The Wise County 4-H Horse Club meets 6:30 p.m. today at the Wise County Extension Office in Decatur.

CLAY SHOOT – Devon’s 11th annual Sporting Clay Shoot benefiting United Way is Friday at Fossil Pointe Sporting Grounds. Registration is at 8 a.m., and the shoot begins at 9. GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY – The Wise County Genealogical Society will meet 6:30 p.m. today at the Decatur Public Library. Judy Ramos will present “How Writing About My Ancestors Made Me a Better Genealogist.” The meeting is free to the public.

FUNERALS – Service for Garland Ray Lipsey Jr., 81, of Decatur is 11 a.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family visitation is 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

FUNERAL for Allen Lee Shaffer, 81, of Granbury, formerly of Bridgeport, is 11 a.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with private family burial. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

VISITATION for Melvin “Dodie” Sergent, 66, of Rhome is 10 a.m.-noon today at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd.

SERVICE for Cecil McCleskey, 74, of Azle is pending at Hawkins-Boyd.

MEMORIAL service for Mary Louise King, 78, of Paradise is 2 p.m. Saturday at The Rock Church in Bridgeport. Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

SERVICE for Jimmy “Lightning” Wright, 83, of Bridgeport is 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Bridgeport with burial at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Jones-Bridgeport.

SERVICE for Danny Ray Town of Bridgeport is pending at Jones-Bridgeport.

MEMORIAL service for Janice Shepard, 85, of Decatur is 11 a.m. Saturday at Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur.
