RAINFALL REPORT – It was a rainy Halloween yesterday. Rainfall totals included 1.2 inches in Cottondale, 1.05 in Alvord, 0.88 in Bridgeport and 0.83 in Decatur. Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 60 degrees.

TWO MORE DAYS TO VOTE EARLY – Early voting for the Nov. 6 election continues 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today at the four early voting locations: the Wise County Elections Office, 200 S. Trinity St. in Decatur; Alvord City Hall, 215 W. Elm; the Boyd Community Center, 420 E. Morton Ave.; and the Bridgeport Law Enforcement Center, 1000 Thompson St. Yesterday, another 655 early votes were cast.

OCTOBER WEATHER – Wise County received above-average rainfall for the third consecutive month in October when the county recorded 7.87 inches of rain, or more than 3 inches above normal. We did not come close to the record rainfall of 23 inches received in October of 1981, however. Temperatures in the month ranged from a high of 90 on Oct. 4 to a low of 42 on Oct. 15.

APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE – Christmas in Paradise applications are now available at all campuses from the counselors or at the Finish Line Cafe. Deadline to return applications is Nov. 23.

BENEFIT CAR SHOW – A car show will be held noon-4 p.m. Saturday at Boyd Mini Storage in Boyd. All proceeds benefit Daniel Stone’s cancer treatment. Entry fee is $20, and registration starts at 11 a.m. Awards will be announced at 3 p.m. For more information, call Charlotte Collins at 817-727-1238.

CAR SHOW AND POKER RUN – The Boyd High School class of 2022 will hold a car show and poker run 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Boyd High School, 700 Knox Ave. Car registration is 7:30-9 a.m., and the cost is $20 per car. The motorcycle poker run registration is 7 a.m. with departure at 8 a.m. The cost is $15 per driver and $5 per passenger. There will be a 50/50 raffle along with vendors and food trucks. BLOOD DRIVE – Wise Health System in Decatur will sponsor a blood drive 8 a.m.-5:45 p.m. today at the hospital’s main campus. For information call Melissa Richardson at 940-626-0167.

AIR EVAC EVENT – Air Evac will hold a membership appreciation event 4:30-7:30 p.m. today at the Wise County Fairgrounds. The event will include a CPR demonstration, live music from Dakota Burns and a food truck. A medical helicopter and the crew will be on hand for questions and photos.

FUNERALS – Service for Jimmy Hunt, 74, of Decatur is 11 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial at Sweetwater. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

FUNERAL for Ashley Greenfield Cichoracki, 34, of Alvord is 10:30 a.m. today at Hawkins Chapel in Decatur with burial at Alvord Cemetery.

SERVICES for Karin Davidson, 65, of Bridgeport and Phillip Wyner, 56, of Lake Bridgeport are pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

FUNERAL for Marcy Pearce Caldwell, 90, of Bridgeport is 2 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Chapel in Bridgeport. Family visitation is 6-7 tonight at the funeral home.

MEMORIAL for Patsy Harrison, 90, of Alvord is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Chapel in Bridgeport. Family visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

FUNERAL for Danny Cooper, 71, of Boyd is 2 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

MEMORIAL for Michael Dwayne Gill, 49, is 10 a.m. Friday at Highridge Church in Fort Worth. Alexander’s Midway Funeral Home in Springtown is handling arrangements.
