STORM WATCH – Wise County is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 2 p.m. today. The forecast calls for a 90 percent chance of rain today and a 60 percent chance of rain tonight. Friday’s forecast also includes a 70 percent chance of storms. As of 7:30 a.m., a line of storms to our west was moving east toward Wise County. The main threats with these storms could be damaging winds and large hail. An isolated tornado is possible tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

STREET CLOSURES FOR FOOD TRUCKS – The 200 through 800 block of West Walnut Street in Decatur will be closed 6 a.m. Friday through Saturday night for the Chamber of Commerce Food Truck Challenge. Only local traffic, such as homeowners, will be allowed on West Walnut during the closure. Citizens will be detoured onto Mill Street to access the Wise County tax collectors office and auto registration. The 200 through 400 blocks of Main Street will also be closed beginning at 6 a.m. Friday.

CEMETERY MEETING – The Lone Star Cemetery Annual Meeting is 10 a.m. Saturday at the cemetery.

CHAMBER LUNCH – Wise County Chamber of Commerce May luncheon is 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the Boyd Community Center. Captain Wes Wallace with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office will speak about Crimestoppers and Neighborhood Watch programs. Lunch is $15 at the door, or you can prepay online for $12 per person at wisecountychamber.com under “Event Tickets.” RSVP to .

FOUNDATION SALE – Wise Health Foundation will host a two-day sale featuring clothing and gifts for men, women and children in the main lobby of the Wise Health System in Decatur 7 a.m.-7 p.m. today and 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday. Proceeds benefit Wise Health System Women’s Services and the Mary’s Gift program, providing free mammograms to the uninsured and underinsured women and men of Wise County.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER – National Day of Prayer will be observed at noon today at two locations in Decatur: the Wise County Courthouse and at the flag pole at the Decatur Conference Center. Community Church, 2840 U.S. 380 in Decatur, is hosting a come-and-go prayer event 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and will feature prayer stations. This year’s theme is “Unity.” The event is observed the first Thursday of May and invites people of all faiths to pray for the nation.

LEGAL ADVICE CLINIC – Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas will offer a free clinic on civil legal matters including family law, wills, landlord/tenant, public benefits, federal tax, and housing 5-7 p.m. today in the basement of the First United Methodist Church of Decatur, 104 S. Miller St. The clinic is open to low-income applicants by appointment or on a walk-in basis, and is held on the first Thursday of every month. Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas is a nonprofit law firm that helps qualified, low-income Texans with civil legal cases only. Interested applicants may call 940-383-1406 for information or to determine eligibility.

FUNERALS – Funeral for Helen Caraway Russell, 74, of Grapevine, formerly of Bridgeport, is 10 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport. Family visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

GRAVESIDE service for Bill McRae, 74, of Bridgeport is 2 p.m. Saturday at Willow Point Cemetery in Bridgeport. Hawkins-Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

SERVICES for Robert Wickham, 89, of Runaway Bay and Eldon Bryant, 91, of Bridgeport are pending at Hawkins-Bridgeport.

SERVICE for Frank Traylor, 74, of Boyd is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.

FUNERAL for Billy Martin Jennings, 69, of Newark is 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Newark. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at the church. Mount Olivet Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
