ASSAULT ARREST – A woman was arrested around midday yesterday after she tried to run over a man in Crafton, according to investigators. The woman, who has not yet been identified, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after investigators said she tried to run over a man yesterday morning. Officers responded and located the woman, but they have not been able to locate the victim.

EARLY VOTING – Early voting in the May 22 primary runoff election continues 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today at four voting locations: the Wise County Elections Office, 200 S. Trinity St. in Decatur; the Bridgeport Law Enforcement Center, 1000 Thompson St.; Alvord City Hall at 215 W. Elm St. and the Boyd Community Center, 420 E. Morton Ave. Yesterday, 250 votes were cast.

PLAYOFFS – The Decatur Eagles and Lady Eagles continue their march in the baseball and softball playoffs, beginning best-of-three series tonight. The Eagles face Crandall at 7 at McKinney North. JONES HEADS TO NATIONALS – Decatur alum Drew Jones helped the Texas Longhorns win the NCAA Raleigh Regional and advance to the NCAA championships. Jones posted a career-best 66 in the third round to finish the tournament 2-over with a 215 for 47th place. Texas was -39 as a team and beat second-place Duke by 17 strokes.

CHAPMAN FINISHES IN TOP 10 – Decatur sophomore Dayne Chapman finished ninth in 4A at the UIL golf championships at Apple Rock earlier this week. Chapman shot rounds of 79 and 77.

COSTON HEADS TO STATE – Slidell senior and 2017 silver medalist Stone Coston opens play in the UIL tennis championships in College Station today. Coston will face Carlos Koehl of Knippa in the quarterfinals.

LIBRARY BOOK SALE – Decatur Public Library will hold a book sale today through Saturday. Friends of the Library Preview is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. today. It will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to close. The book sale continues Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to close. All proceeds benefit the library.

BOONSTOCK – The Boonsville/Balsora Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual fundraiser, Boonstock, 5 p.m. Saturday at the Boonsville Fire Hall. The event will feature a brisket dinner, hot dogs for the kids, live music, raffle and auction. RETIREMENT PARTY – Justin Elementary will hold a retirement party for Cindy Clement, Donna Coleman and Brenda Morris 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the school.

MOVIE IN THE PARK – Bridgeport Box Office will present “A Dog’s Purpose” Saturday at Harwood Park. The movie is free, and concessions are available for purchase. Pre-movie activities start at 7 p.m., and movie will start at dusk. Call 940-683-3480.

STROKE SUPPORT GROUP – The Stroke Overcomers Support Group will have their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Wise Health System west campus, Decatur (rehabilitation cafeteria). This group is designed to assist stroke survivors and their families with hope and information. This month’s topic is heat stroke and the steps to take to avoid heat stroke.
