WEEKEND RAINFALL – Rainfall totals from the weekend included 2.35 inches in Alvord and 0.62 in Decatur. Today’s high temperature is expected to be 80 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.

SUPERINTENDENT FORUM – The Wise County Chamber of Commerce will hold a forum with school superintendents from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. today at the Decatur Conference Center. Email info@wisecountychamber.com for tickets.

DIABETES CLASSES – Total Diabetes Care at Wise Health System will hold diabetes education classes in Alvord today. The beginner class will be offered at 3 p.m., and the advanced class will be offered at 4 p.m. Both classes will be held at the First Baptist Church. The classes are intended to help those with diabetes better understand and manage the disease. Classes are free and will be taught by Dick Gilley RN, CCRN, CDE. No RSVP required. PARADISE HISTORICAL SOCIETY – The regular bi-monthly meeting of the Paradise Historical Society is 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Paradise Methodist Church Annex building at 304 S. Oak St. Donna Weeden will share her research of the 1870’s outlaw Sam Bass and his gang who roamed and hid out in Denton, Parker, Wise and Cook counties between 1870-78. The presentation will be followed by refreshments and a business meeting. The public is invited.

DHS MEET THE TEACHER – Decatur High School will host Meet the Teacher Night (Fall Open House) 6:30-8 p.m. today. Students and their families are invited to a welcome meeting for all parents and students in the DHS Auditorium from 6:30-6:45 p.m. Parents can then tour the high school to visit their teachers and classrooms.

COMMUNITY COALITION – The Wise County Community Coalition meets noon today at Pizza Hut in Decatur. Shawne Ware, executive director of CASA of Wise and Jack Counties is guest speaker.

DECATUR CITY COUNCIL – The Decatur City Council will vote on the proposed tax rate and budget for fiscal year 2018-2019 at its meeting at 6 tonight at city hall. The city is proposing a 3.6-cent tax cut to fund next year’s $8.7289 million budget.

COMMISSIONERS TO ADOPT BUDGET – Wise County commissioners plan to adopt the budget and tax rate for fiscal year 2019 at their meeting today. They also plan to discuss the Weatherford College Wise County budget and adopt the college branch campus maintenance tax for FY ’19. They will consider the 3-2-1 tax prepayment discount program, suggested in last week’s public hearing, and will also discuss the job description and timeline for hiring a new public works director. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. in the third-floor conference room of the Wise County Courthouse. Two public hearings on the archive funds for the county clerk and district clerk will be held prior to the start of the regular meeting at 8:30 and 8:45 a.m., respectively.
