1 KILLED IN WRECK NEAR ALVORD – A woman was killed when her Chevy four-door sedan struck a parked tractor trailer Sunday afternoon on U.S. 81/287 south of Alvord, according to Department of Public safety corporal Fred Thornton. The wreck occurred around 2 p.m. The crash reduced U.S. 81/287 southbound to one lane for over an hour. No additional details were made available and the crash is still under investigation.

EARLY VOTING ENTERS SECOND WEEK – You’ve got one more week to vote early in the Nov. 6 election. On Saturday, another 804 people cast votes, bringing the first week total to 9,739. Early voting continues 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the four early voting locations: the Wise County Elections Office, 200 S. Trinity St. in Decatur; Alvord City Hall, 215 W. Elm; the Boyd Community Center, 420 E. Morton Ave.; and the Bridgeport Law Enforcement Center, 1000 Thompson St.

SERVICE SET FOR FALLEN OFFICER – Funeral for Rhome Police officer Robin Edward Adair is 2 p.m. today at North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford. On Oct. 9, Adair was vacationing at Lake Cumberland in Southern Kentucky when he went for a swim around 10 a.m. and disappeared. His body was recovered six days later by rescue squads from Boone County and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

GOSPEL OPRY – The monthly Gospel Opry Sing-Along Program is 6:30 tonight in the G.C. Rann Auditorium of the Wise County Heritage Museum in Decatur. Admission is free. An offering will be accepted to be used toward the expenses of the museum.

COLLEGE NIGHT – Weatherford College Wise County will host the 17th Annual College Night 5-7 p.m. today. Representatives from more than 40 colleges and universities will be there. A general financial aid presentation designed for parents of high school seniors will be at 6 p.m. in the WCWC Lecture Hall. FUNERAL for Maria Ochoa, 62, of Arlington, formerly of Bridgeport is 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church Bridgeport. Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

MEMORIAL for Patsy Harrison, 90, of Alvord is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Chapel in Bridgeport. Family visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

PRIVATE family service for Bill Gantt, 82, of Chico will be held at a later date in Leander. Hawkins-Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Danny Cooper, 71, of Boyd is 2 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
