EARLY VOTING BEGINS – Early voting for the Nov. 6 election begins today at four early voting locations in Wise County: the Wise County Elections Office, 200 S. Trinity St. in Decatur; Alvord City Hall, 215 W. Elm; the Boyd Community Center, 420 E. Morton Ave.; and the Bridgeport Law Enforcement Center, 1000 Thompson St. Polls are open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. every weekday, except on Tuesdays when there are extended hours of 7 a.m.-7 p.m. You can also vote early 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. CITIZEN OF THE YEAR – Beverly Ross was named the Decatur Chamber of Commerce 2018 Citizen of the Year at Saturday’s annual auction at the Decatur Conference Center.

REGIONAL CROSS COUNTRY – Wise County will be well-represented as runners take their mark today at regional cross country meets. Thirteen local teams will gut it out, racing for a place at the state cross country meet Nov. 3. Alvord boys and girls, Chico boys and Slidell boys and girls will run at the Jesse Owens Complex in Dallas, while the boys and girls teams for Boyd, Bridgeport, Decatur, Paradise and Northwest will race at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.

RAINFALL REPORT – Rainfall totals from Friday included 1.2 inches in Greenwood, 1.14 in Decatur, 1.1 in Cottondale and 0.95 in Alvord. Rain chances return to the forecast Wednesday.

CHAMBER COFFEE NETWORK – The Wise County Chamber October Coffee Network is 8-9 a.m. Wednesday at First Financial Bank of Boyd. Mayor Rodney Holmes or Mayor Pro-Tem Mark Culpepper will give an update about the city.

CHARITY CAR SHOW – Entries are being accepted for the Love 4 Linda charity car show Nov. 10 at Yesterday’s in Bridgeport. Registration is $15 before Oct. 28 and $20 after. Call 817-751-8324 or email love4linda@yahoo.com.

SITUATIONAL AWARENESS – Concerned Women for America Prayer/Action Chapter of Wise County will host Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin for a speech on Situational Awareness and Human Trafficking 6-7 p.m. today at Bridgeport High School during the Concerned Women for America Prayer/Action Chapter of Wise County meeting.

DEMENTIA INFORMATION – Decatur Medical Lodge will hold its “Dementia Live” tour for families, caregivers and medical personnel to bring heightened awareness of the challenges faced by those living with dementia from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today.

FUNERALS – Services for Julie Perez, 26; Donald Nalls, 84; and Shirley Foster, 82, all of Decatur are pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

SERVICE for Earl William “EJ” Crocker Jr., 37, of Midland is pending at Hawkins-Decatur.

FUNERAL for James Park, 94, is 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Bridgeport with burial at Dresden Cemetery in Corsicana. Family visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport. He is the father of Kay Crawford of Bridgeport.

FUNERAL for Doris Autry, 88, of Boyd is 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Boyd with burial at Friendship Cemetery. Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd is handling arrangements.

SERVICES for Ruby Farley, 89, of Decatur and Joe Roy Smith, 31, of McCurtain County, Oklahoma, are pending at Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur.
