911 OUTAGE – The region’s 911 provider, NCT-911’s lines went down overnight. Wise County was among the areas affected. According to NCT911, the outage was related to the national CenturyLink rolling outage. Citizens were instructed to call the direct line for their respective police department in case of emergency. NCT911 said that as of 6:20 a.m., 911 services in the region had been restored and running at normal operations.

COOL WEEKEND – The last weekend of 2018 will be a cold one. High temperatures today through Sunday are expected to be in the mid- to low-40s each day. Rain chances return Sunday with a 30 percent chance of showers during the day, increasing to 50 percent Sunday night. County rainfall totals from Wednesday’s showers included 1 inch in Bridgeport, 0.95 in Alvord, 0.85 in Decatur and 0.55 in Cottondale.

EAGLES WIN – Decatur High School’s boys basketball team made quick work of Liberty Hill – the No. 6 team in Class 4A and top-ranked 4A team in the tournament – knocking off the Panthers 57-37 at Chisholm Trail High School in the opening round of the Whataburger Tournament yesterday. Four Eagles finished in double figures in the victory. Izek Chavana and Gage Rieger each had 12. Wilson Hicks had 11, scoring seven in the first quarter. Ethan Southard finished four rebounds shy of a double-double, posting 10 points and six boards. Decatur improved to 17-2 overall with the victory. The Eagles have won five straight and will play the winner of Brock and Levelland today at 11 a.m.

CHICO TRASH SCHEDULE – Trash collection in Chico will take place on Saturdays (Dec. 29 and Jan. 5) instead of Fridays due to the holidays.

RETIREMENT CELEBRATION – The Community Bank in Bridgeport will hold a retirement celebration for Coy Stephens today. Cake and punch will be served.

GRAVESIDE service for Stella (Morris) Massey Helf, 85, formerly of Decatur is 10 a.m. Jan. 4 at Oaklawn Cemetery. Hawkins-Decatur is handling arrangements.

SERVICE for Sandra Bramlett is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

GRAVESIDE service for Jimmy Richardson, 74, of Rhome is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Aurora Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.

FUNERAL for William Lambert, 80, of Boyd is 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Boyd. Hawkins-Boyd is handling arrangements.

NO SERVICE is planned for David L. Elliston, 73, of Bridgeport. Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.
