ARRESTS MADE AFTER PURSUIT – Officers pursued three suspects by vehicle and foot Monday morning near Decatur before detaining them. Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a pickup northbound on U.S. 81/287 several miles south of Decatur around 8:20 a.m. The pickup failed to yield and sped away from the deputy. During the pursuit, the truck’s occupants threw what appeared to be drugs out the window. As the chase neared Decatur, the truck turned into a pasture just south of town and the occupants fled on foot. Three people were caught and taken into custody. Officers went back to the scene and found about a 1/2 pound of methamphetamine as well as stolen property, Akin said. Joshua Garvin, Cody Eubanks and Athena Busch were all arrested on drug charges. Eubanks and Garvin also were charged with tampering with evidence, and Eubanks had an additional charge of evading arrest.
