PRINCIPAL CHANGE IN ALVORD – Effective Friday, Alvord High School teacher and coach Aaron Tefertiller is the new high school principal. According to a statement posted on the school’s Facebook page Friday morning from Superintendent Randy Brown, former AHS Principal Michael Thurman requested a change of assignment and will now be teaching social studies at the high school and coaching at the high school and middle school. After a day of transition on Friday, the two are beginning their new roles today.

PLAYOFF BASKETBALL – The Paradise girls basketball team will play Brock in a 3A bi-district playoff game at 7 tonight at Springtown.

CANDIDATE FORUM – Wise County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a candidate forum 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Decatur Conference Center. Chamber Board Chairman Chip Kowalski of Paradise said each candidate will have one minute to introduce themselves, and then candidates will rotate between tables, visiting with guests in small groups. SCV MEETING – The Sons of Confederate Veterans meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesley Center of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Larry Martin will speak on the importance of leadership in a camp.

COALITION MEETING – The Wise County Community Coalition meeting is noon today at Pizza Hut in Decatur. This month’s presentation is on Black History. Call Mike Bell at 940-627-9082.

SKYWARN CLASS – The National Weather Service in Fort Worth will host a Skywarn class 7-9 tonight in the Women’s Building of the Wise County Fairgrounds in Decatur.

MARY’S GIFT – Wise Health Foundation offers a program called Mary’s Gift providing free mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women and men of Wise County. Current dates available are Feb. 28, March 28, April 25, May 23 and June 27. IMMUNIZATION CLINIC – The Texas Department of State Health Services is having an immunization clinic 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Decatur. To be eligible, children must be American Indian, an Alaskan native, underinsured, no insurance or on Medicaid. Bring the child’s shot record and Medicaid card. CHIPS is not accepted. FUNERALS – Graveside service for Donald North, 81, of Decatur is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Boyd Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-7 tonight at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

SERVICES for Lindy Petty, 65, and Doyle Wood, 84, both of Bridgeport are pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

FUNERAL for William A. McCullough, Jr., 86, of Rhome, is 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at 2:15 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

SERVICE for Royce R. Case, 83, of Decatur is pending at Jones-Decatur.

FUNERAL for Ione Ray Morrow Smith, 97, of Jacksboro is 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church Wizard Wells with burial at Wizard Wells Cemetery. Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro is handling arrangements.
