CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION EVENT – CASA of Wise and Jack Counties is kicking off Child Abuse Prevention Month at 1 p.m. today on the steps of the Wise County Courthouse in Decatur. County Judge J.D. Clark will read a proclamation and the first of 3,000 blue pinwheels will be placed on the courthouse lawn. CASA hopes to pack the square with citizens ready to stand up and keep children safe. Those in attendance are asked to wear blue, the official color of the campaign. They’re also invited to bring homemade signs with messages showing a commitment to keep Wise County kids safe.

SOCCER PLAYOFFS – The Bridgeport Bulls will take on El Paso Clint in the 4A Region I area round at 4 p.m. today in Odessa at Ratliff Stadium.

SLIGHT RAIN CHANCE – Today’s forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of rain and a high of 61.

LIBRARY CLOSED – The Chico Public Library will be closed today through Saturday for professional development. Late fees will be waived.

DIABETES CLASSES – Total Diabetes Care at Wise Health System will hold diabetes education classes in Bridgeport today. The classes are intended to help those with diabetes better understand and manage the disease. The beginner class will be offered at 3 p.m., and the advanced class will be offered at 4 p.m. Both classes will be held at the Wise Clinical Care, 2202 U.S. 380 No. 112. Classes are free and will be taught by Dick Gilley RN, CCRN, CDE. No RSVP required. Call Gilley at 940-626-1890.

PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP – The Wise County Parkinson’s Support Group meets 6 p.m. Tuesday at 609 Medical Center Drive, the old Fit-N-Wise. This month will feature a guest speaker. Call Pamela Hudson, 940-389-0642.

COOKING WELL WITH DIABETES – Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is hosting Cooking Well with Diabetes, an educational program to help people with diabetes and anyone who prepares food for them learn how to plan and prepare healthy meals. The four-week series will begin on Tuesday, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Wise County Extension office in Decatur. To pre-register call the Extension office at 940-627-3341. There is a one-time fee of $25 per person.

FLAG RAISING CEREMONY – Wise Health System will host a flag raising ceremony in recognition of National Donate Life month at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the East Campus flag poles. The flag will fly during the month of April celebrating the hundreds of thousands of donors and recipients whose lives have been affected by organ, eye and tissue donation.

ALL-WISE BASKETBALL – The 2018 All-Wise County Basketball teams were featured in the weekend Wise County Messenger on newsstands now.

FUNERAL – Service for Sidney Hodges, 79, of Bridgeport is pending at Jones Family Funeral Home-Bridgeport.
