A mobile home outside of Boyd caught fire Tuesday morning, and the cause is still under investigation.

Boyd Chief Chris Caster said when they reached the mobile home on County Road 4767, one end was in flames. Boyd Volunteer Fire Department, assisted by Newark, quickly knocked the flames down. The fire occurred around 11 a.m.

Caster said the family living in the home made it safely out. They were still searching for a missing dog, but Caster said firefighters had looked through the home for the dog three times and found nothing so he believes it likely ran off during the fire.

Wise County Fire Marshal Jeff Doughty is investigating the cause of the fire.
