ALVORD ISD CALLS BOND ELECTION – Alvord School Board yesterday called an election for a $5.11 million bond package for May 5 to build gym and classrooms at Alvord Elementary. The proposal would mean a tax rate increase of 12.6 to 15.1 cents per $100 of evaluation. The district’s current tax rate is $1.35.

HOOPS SCHEDULE – Tonight’s district basketball action includes Boswell at Northwest, Decatur at Sanger, Gainesville at Bridgeport, Boyd at Henrietta, Paradise at City View, Alvord at Poolville, Era at Chico and Slidell at Bellevue.

STORM CHANCES – Skies are expected to remain cloudy today with a high of 63. The forecast includes a 70 percent chance of rain after midnight.

RABBIT CLINIC – Wise County Youth Fair Rabbit Clinic is 3:30-7 p.m. Monday at the Wise County Fairgrounds. Rabbit cages must have a bottom in them. All rabbits must be tattooed or tattoos checked and checked for breed and sex at this time in order to show at the Wise County Youth Fair. Call 940-389-5388.

CANDIDATE FORUM – The Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce will hold a candidate forum at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Arcadia Theater, 1008 Halsell Street.

CITIZENS ACADEMY – The Decatur Police Department will hold a citizens police academy beginning Feb. 6. The class is free, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays for 13 weeks. Applications are available at the DPD and at decaturtx.org and the department’s Facebook page. Call Sgt. Royce Gastineau, 940-393-0300.

DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE – The Pleasant Grove Cowboy Church of Decatur is having its first Daddy Daughter Dance Saturday at the church, hosted by the PGCC Women’s Ministry. MUSICAL GUEST – Chuck Crain of the Presley’s Quartet in Branson, Mo., will sing at the evening service of Grace Baptist Church of Decatur 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

FUNERALS – Service for Rayleigh Ann Fitch, infant, of Boyd is 1 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home Boyd with burial at Boyd Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

FUNERAL for Oliver Currie, 90, of Decatur is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Aurora Baptist Church with burial at Aurora Cemetery. Family visitation is 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Chapel in Boyd.

MEMORIAL for Todd Stephen Yingst, 58, of Rhome is 5 p.m. Monday at Hawkins-Boyd.
