UIL REALIGNMENET ANNOUNCED – The University Interscholastic League announced its biennial realignment for 2018-19 and 2019-20 Thursday morning for football and basketball. The Decatur Eagles will be in a football league with Burkburnett, Gainesville, Mineral Wells, Springtown and Hirschi in 4-4A Division I. Decatur and Bridgeport will be paired together in 8-4A in Region I in basketball with Argyle, Krum and Springtown. Bridgeport will be in 3-4A Division II for football with Aubrey, Graham, Iowa Park, Krum and Vernon. For football, the Northwest Texans will be in 4-5A Division II with Fort Worth’s Carter-Riverside, Eastern Hills, North Side, Polytechnic, Southwest and Wyatt. In basketball, the Texans head east to join Denton’s Denton High, Braswell and Ryan, Lake Dallas, The Colony and Little Elm in 8-5A. In 3A Division I, Boyd and Paradise will be in District 4 with Bowie, Brock, Pilot Point, Ponder and Whitesboro. Boyd and Paradise landed in District 7-3A for basketball with Breckenridge, Brock, Jacksboro, Millsap, Peaster and Tolar. Wise County’s 2A schools, Alvord and Chico, will be 4-2A Division I for football with Lindsay, Olney and Seymour – a five-team league. In basketball, Alvord and Chico join 11-2A with Era, Irving Universal Academy, Muenster and Poolville. Slidell will be in 22-A in basketball with Bellevue, Gold-Burg, Forestburg, Midway, Prairie Valley and Saint Jo.

FRIDAY HOOPS – The Decatur basketball teams will head across the Big Sandy to take on rival Bridgeport tonight. The girls game starts at 6:15 with the boys game to follow. Other boys and girls games: Alvord at Muenster, Boyd at Jacksboro, Poolville at Chico, Aledo at Northwest, Paradise at Holliday and Prairie Valley at Slidell.

PRESCRIBED BURN – The LBJ National Grasslands will conduct a prescribed burn today on Unit 75, north of Cottonwood Lake.

FOOD PANTRY OPEN SATURDAY – The Decatur Cares mobile food pantry will be in the parking lot of the Decatur ISD Administration Building, 309 S. Cates St., at a new time of 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday. It’s open to anyone in the community who needs help with groceries. The 18-wheeler full of food comes to Decatur the first Saturday of every month throughout the year.

REGISTER TO VOTE – Monday is the deadline to register to vote if you plan on voting in the March 6 primary elections. Contact the Wise County Elections Department at 940-626-4453 for information about voter registration.

RELAY MEETING – Relay For Life of Wise County will meet Monday at Candlewood Suites in Decatur. ELT meets at 5:30 p.m., and the Team Captain meeting is at 6 p.m. Call Kathy Hughes, 940-255-2944.

COMMUNITY MEETING – Wise Citizens For Property Rights will hold a community meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Bridgeport Lions Hall. WiseCPR is running the petition to stop forced annexation throughout the entire county. The public is invited.

YOUTH FAIR ENTRY CLINIC – Wise County Youth Fair Entry Clinic is 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Decatur Ag Science Building. Call 940-389-5388.

DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE – The Decatur Junior Woman’s Club will hold the 12th annual Daddy Daughter Dance Saturday at the Decatur Conference Center. This year’s theme is the Mad Hatter’s Ball. YOUTH SOCCER – Bridgeport youth soccer sign ups will take place 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday Feb. 3 and 10 at the Bridgeport Public Library. Fee is $65.

FUNERALS – Funeral for Johnnie Charlene Mitchum, 75, of Alvord is 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Alvord with burial at Post Oak Cemetery. Family visitation is 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. White Family Funeral Home of Bowie is handling arrangements.

MEMORIAL service for Ryan Alden Munnerlyn, 28, of Decatur is 11 a.m. Saturday at Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur.

MEMORIAL service for Lisa Sipes, 53, of Bridgeport is 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church of Bridgeport. Jones-Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Beverly Ann Coffey, 60, of Decatur is 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Baptist Church in Chico with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. Visitation is one hour prior to service at the church. Jones-Decatur is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Warren C. Crain, 84, of Decatur is 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Hawkins-Decatur is handling arrangements.

SERVICE for Eric Hodge, 42, of Conway, Ark., is 11 a.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at Chico Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

SERVICE for Dixie Perkins, 82, of Decatur is pending at Jones-Decatur.
