A property in the 200 block of County Road 1637 just west of Chico turned into a raging inferno after catching fire around 11 p.m. Monday.

Wise County Fire Marshal Jeff Doughty said he believes there were three mobile homes on the property, and two of them burned, as well as several cars.

Seven adults and one child lived in the two homes, but all escaped the blaze, according to Doughty. Four years ago 14-year-old Christopher Conn died in a fire in the 200 block of CR 1637. Doughty said he thinks it was the same address.

Fire departments on scene at midnight included Chico, Sand Flat, Crafton, Lake Bridgeport and Bridgeport. At that time Decatur, Alvord and Paradise fire departments were on their way with tankers.

The fire is under investigation.┬áMore information will be posted as it’s available.
