One person was arrested for evading and possession of marijuana, and another person is still at large following a chase that started in Montague County last night and ended in Alvord. Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Dan Buesing in Wichita Falls said at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday, a passenger car with two occupants fled a DPS trooper south on U.S. 81/287 starting in Bowie. The car continued to flee multiple law enforcement units south into the Alvord city limits where the vehicle crossed the center median, drove across northbound traffic and up the roadway embankment. Both occupants fled the vehicle as it came to a stop and ran into the residential neighborhoods. The driver was arrested around 7:30 p.m. hiding in the back of a local vehicle, and was booked into the Wise County jail. The passenger is still at large. He is described as a black male, mid/early 20’s, approximately 5’10 to 6’0 tall, wearing blue jeans, white t-shirt with short dark hair. Officers did find a significant amount of marijuana hidden by the passenger during a search of the area with the help of security cameras. In addition to DPS, other agencies involved in the search included Texas Highway Patrol and Aircraft Division, the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, Montague County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Criminal Justice K-9, Decatur Police and Texas Game Wardens. The incident is still under investigation.
