Wrestling: Northwest wrestlers medal at state

Four wrestlers from Northwest took home medals at the University Interscholastic League championships last weekend in Cypress.

On the boys side, senior Mike Kumlien won gold for the second consecutive year after moving up to the 138-pound weight class. Kumlien was also awarded most outstanding wrestler for his performance.

Aiden Jean claimed silver in the 160-pound division.

On the girls side, senior Andrena Carter brought home the gold in the 165-pound division. Carter had lost in the semifinals each of the past two seasons.

Madison Brown took home bronze in the 102-pound weight class.

Northwest had six wrestlers compete at the state meet.
