Bridgeport’s Colton Waters and Caleb Jennings signed to play college football Tuesday morning. Waters will play at Angelo State and Jennings will play at Oklahoma Panhandle State.

Waters was a first-team District 3-4A Division II selection and led the Bulls in receiving in 2017. He hauled in 61 passes for 1,160 yards and 13 touchdowns.

“It’s a dream come true,” Waters said. “I’ve been working all season, summer – and I guess all my life for this. I’m glad I’ve been given the opportunity and am ready to make the most of it.”

Jennings, a 6-foot-1, 290-pound center, anchored Bridgeport’s offensive line. Jennings said he did not play much his junior season, and credited head coach Shannon Wilson for developing him as a player.

“[Wilson] helped me a lot,” Jennings said. “When Coach Wilson came along, he took ahold of me and got me really going. I got to be a starting center this year and that’s really what helped my recruiting process.”

The Bulls went 3-8 last season, making the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

Waters was quarterback Jadon Maddox’s favorite target, accounting for 54.2 percent of Maddox’s passing yards.

Jennings helped Maddox and running back Michael Cole combine to rush for 1,180 yards and 16 scores.

“They had strong senior years,” Wilson said. “They’ll be hard to replace, but we [look forward] to them representing Bridgeport.”
