Since the final point in the fifth game of the 3A state semifinal, Jordyn Todd and the rest of the Boyd Lady Yellowjackets have awaited a chance to step back on the court together.

Wednesday will be that day for the start of two-a-days.

“We’re ready to start and get going,” Todd said. “We have high expectations, but we know we have to work our butts off to live up to those expectations.”

Wednesday is the first day that the UIL allows volleyball teams to start practicing. After two days of practicing, many will hit the floor for their first scrimmage Friday. Teams are allowed to start the regular season Aug. 6.

“We get a whole two days of practice,” said Boyd coach Dusty Crafton.

Boyd players along with many other schools got some work in this past week at team camps. Some other Wise County teams will have team camps Monday and Tuesday, leading into the first practice.

Boyd, Decatur, Alvord and Chico are coming off playoff appearances last year.
